WASTE ME

Welcome to the backside of the throwaway society. Five performers emerge from a large pile of waste. They toss away items, trash, and each other. They become items; the items are their lives. Factory-like movements and herd behavior alternate. Is it Utopia, or have they ended up in hell? They are waiting for something, a redemption, a new world. Can they free themselves from this self-made prison?

Waste Me is a dance performance by Maas theater and dance, and choreographer/theater maker Cecilia Moisio, specially created on location for Oerol Festival and serving as a strong commentary on the out-of-control consumer society. It is a firm plea for reducing consumption. A critical look at how consumerism has changed our psyche and behavior and what this means for our self-esteem and appreciation of others around us.
