DETACH #1

 

DETACH is a photographic experiment about the use of theatrical costume in an editorial fashion shoot. The costumes were created for the purpose of performance, but in these images the purpose of the costume is reinvented and placed in a different setting from the original performances. The overlapping theme for the DETACH series is the occurrence of detachment, from the body, emotions or life. The main inspiration for these series was the Japanese dance style called Butoh, also called ‘dance of the darkness’.
